What is your refund policy?
Refunds will not be given after February 1, 2009 unless charges were made on a Military Credit Card. When applicable, Military Card refunds will be given by March 10, 2009.

Can I get a printed copy of the SAOC syllabus before arriving in San Antonio for the course?
No. The syllabus is finalized right before the course so there is no time for advanced distribution.

Why don’t you just teleconference the course?
We cannot video teleconference the course because of copyright issues.

Can I get a copy of the lectures or slides used by the presenters?
No. We cannot and will not provide copies of the lectures or slides to attendees.

Can I bring my laptop to the course?
Yes. However, the conference room does not have power source capability for personal laptops. Back-up batteries are strongly recommended.

What does the registration fee cover?
The registration fee covers your attendance at the 5-day course. It includes one copy of the syllabus, morning refreshments and afternoon power breaks. It does not include lunch or dinner, the cost of travel, hotel room or transportation to and from the airport.

Can I reserve one of those inexpensive officers’ quarters room?
We can no longer provide those quarters because of post 9/11 security issues. However, we have negotiated a special rate with the Holiday Inn Select where the course will be held. Call (210) 349-9900 to make your reservation and indicate you are attending the San Antonio Ophthalmology Course to receive the rate. Rooms are subject to availability.

Why isn’t the course still being held at Ft. Sam Houston?
Due to post 9/11 security issues, the course can no longer be held on the Army post.

Can I get a copy of an instructional CD-ROM or syllabus from past courses?
No. CD-ROMs and syllabuses from past courses are not available for sale.

Can I bring a tape recorder to the course?
Yes, audio recording is allowed; video is not.

Do you still offer the mock oral board exams?
Not anymore. We did offer individual oral board exams when the course attendance was smaller, but cannot now. We do a presentation on oral board test taking techniques.

What time should I schedule my departing flight?
We try to end the course by 1:00 pm on Friday to facilitate flight departures. The hotel is five minutes from the airport. Hotel rooms are available for Saturday stays to accommodate airline arrangements.

I’m not a U.S. citizen and would like to attend the course, how can you help me?
Letters of registration are available for those requiring VISAs for entry into the U.S. Request a letter via e-mail at l.cobb@trueresearch.org

If I fail the board exam can I get a refund for the course?
No.
